Steroids in bodybuilding

Steroids Add comments

I am no expert on the subject that is steroids but the stigma of the matter is always associated with bodybuilding, and therefore it occasionally gets associated with me. If I bump into an old friend who I haven’t seen for a while (especially friends who I haven’t seen since high school) one of the first questions in  the conversation is “blimey, have you been taking steroids?” which is always asked in a joking matter, but its hard to detect whether its still a genuine question. my response is always mixed with this question, some times I tell them “no” and other times I joke back until they say “REALLY!!!”  THEN I tell them “no”.

I haven’t had any experience with steroids apart from people I know who have taken them. Some people obviously know what they are doing and know all the facts about steroids and how to take them and are willing to accept the risks of any side effects.

Then there  are people who jump straight in without researching any facts on risks or how to take steroids, who want a quick fix and want to look good ASAP. People I personally know have jumped into this quick fix scenario, did get fast results but suffered some sort of side effects, A few people who I know developed heart problems and subsequently came off steroids. but the muscle gains they had made which caused them health problems, quickly disappeared.

I guess my point is, if you are thinking about taking steroids make sure you analyze all the pros and cons. Your health is potentially at risk, all people react differently to drugs and the potential side effects of steroids may make your life worse.

I feel there is only one safe way of gaining a perfect physique and that is by hard work without the use of steroids. Steroids have many bad side effects which could effect the rest of your life such as, Heart deffects, impotency, mood swings and worst of all bad breath and hair loss not so good if your out on the pull.

It’s is, as always, the responsibility of the individual to investigate the pro’s and con’s as to any decision. Some responsibility should. however, fall on the people willing to illegally supply other’s with substances involving side effects. One such effect that a few friends have unfortunately not paid enough attention to is the effect alcohol has on the mood side of things when mixed with steroids; not good!!!

How do you feel about so called steroid alternatives? I agree that the side effects of steroids in the long run can ruin your life. Hard work and the best diet possible is the best way.

How do you feel about the so called legal steroid alternatives? Ever try any with good results or do you consider them as bad as steroids?
    Thank you

By Legal Steroid alternatives I assume you mean testosterone boosters. I’ve never tried legal steroid alternatives so I cant really comment on them. I do take popular supplements like creatine (occasionally) and whey protein (every day).

Yeah it seems too easy for people to jump in feet first without thinking about the consequences of Steroid use.

I am similar to yourself, I always get the same comments from people. Yeah I know people that use them but I would never touch them myself, and it feels like a small % of the bod building industry has managed to get everyone tarred with the same bush
